Textual criticism, which is an essential discipline of exegesis even though it is often side-lined, is in the spotlight in this collection of writings offered in honour of Christian-Bernard Amphoux.

Over the past 40 years, Professor Amphoux’s work has led him to propose numerous innovative solutions concerning the origin of variants of the "Western" text of the Gospels, through its best representative, Codex Bezae; and, more broadly, concerning the composition of the New Testament in the 2nd century, as well as of certain books of the Septuagint such as the book of Jeremiah.
