On non-finite verbal forms in Hittite: a morpho-syntactic analysis of infinitives in -anna and -wanzi

This paper analyzes the functions of the Hittite infinitive formed with the suffixes -anna and -wanzi from a morpho-syntactic perspective, with reference to the context provided by non-finite verbal forms in Hittite. Building on previous research, this analysis identifies potential similarities and differences in the use of these suffixes, based on a heterogeneous corpus of the Hittite language. These forms primarily serve to express purpose, but can have other functions, depending on their occurrence in complement or circumstantial clauses.
