This paper analyses Roman settlement and economical networks in the coastal area of the ager Rusellanus (South Tuscany, Italy). The area has been the focus of major archaeological excavations since 2009 under the Alberese Archaeological Project. This paper aims to combine datasets coming from field surveys, analysis of the material culture, landscape and geo-archaeological studies, analysis of historical maps and the stratigraphical excavations of at least 2 new Roman sites: the sanctuary and temple area of Diana Umbronensis and the manufacturing district and related cabotage port of Rusellae.

Keywords: Settlement network, roman economy, South Etrusca, Roman temples, manufacturing districts
